Sudani government enforces Supreme Court verdict on illegality of Kadhimi era appointments

Cabinet’s decision to retroactively annul Kadhimi era executive orders that were issued during the course of the past year is fundamentally about enforcing a May 2022 Supreme Court verdict. The court offered its legal opinion in response to a query submitted by former president Barham Salih in which he requested clarification on the scope of a caretaker government’s authorities.
