Full list of proposed ministers ahead of parliament vote
Parliament is set to convene a session today to vote on Ali Al-Zaidi’s proposed cabinet. Zaidi is expected to submit a partial cabinet made up of 18 posts. Here’s the full list of names and their political affiliations:
Shia factions:
1- Minister of Oil: Basim Mohammed Khudair (RDC - Sudani)
Deputy Minister of Oil for Upstream and career engineer at the Ministry of Oil.
2- Minister of Electricity: Ali Saad Wahib (RDC - Sudani)
Head of Operations at Raban Al Safina Group, specializing in the energy sector.
3- Minister of Interior: Qasim Atta (State of Law - Maliki)
Army officer at Ministry of Defence. Previously served as head of operations at the Iraqi National Intelligence Service.
4- Minister of Higher Education: Amer Al-Khuzai (State of Law - Maliki)
University professor and former member of parliament. Previously served as prime minister’s advisor on national reconciliation.
5- Minister of Finance: Faleh Al-Sari (Hikma - Hakim)
Current member of parliament and Hikma bloc head. Served on the parliamentary finance committee since 2010.
6- Minister of Transport: Wahab Al-Hasani (Badr - Ameri)
Senior figure within Badr Organization and chief of staff to Hadi Al-Ameri.
7- Minister of Water Resources: Muthanna Al-Tamimi (Badr - Ameri)
Current member of parliament.
8- Minister of Health: Abdul Husayn Al-Musawi (Al-Nahj Al-Watani - Musawi)
Heads the Nahj al-Watani bloc which is the electoral wing of the Fadhila Party. Medical doctor and former MP.
9- Minister of Communications: Mustafa Sanad (ISCI - Hamoudi)
Current member of parliament.
10 - Ministry of Agriculture: Abdul Rahim Al-Shimmari (Al-Aqd Al-Watani - Fayyadh)
