Parliament faces heated debates over legislative proposals
Parliament is expected to undertake a set of contentious debates after Ramadhan, with several controversial laws under discussion. Preliminary negotiations are already underway among the leading political factions.
At the center of these deliberations are the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Service and Retirement Law and the long-awaited Oil and Gas Law. Both have sparked sharp divisions, similar to the heated debates that surrounded recently passed controversial laws. Parliament will resume its sessions this Saturday, and during Ramadhan, MPs will convene in the evenings. However, these bills are not yet on the official agenda.
