Parliament sacks Maliki-aligned governor of Diwaniya

Parliament moved to sack the governor of Diwaniya province on February 8 after PM Sudani suspended Governor Zuhayr Shalan last month following an investigation that found him to have committed financial improprieties. Shalan is the first governor to be removed from office since the formation of the new government.
