Iraq’s leading political blocs reached an agreement this week on how to distribute the heads of parliamentary committees and their deputies. Each parliamentary committee is led by a chair and two deputies that have significant sway over agenda-setting within their respective committees. After months-long negotiations, the chairs and deputies of 15 out of 25 parliamentary committees were voted in on January 29 and 30.
