Sudani’s cabinet combines technocrats with party stalwarts

PM al-Sudani nearly had a full cabinet sworn in on October 27 but due to an ongoing dispute between the KDP and PUK, two of his 23 cabinet seats remain vacant: Housing, Construction and Municipalities; and Environment. Since 2005, successive cabinets have ranged from being dominated by party stalwarts, to so-called technocrats. Sudani’s cabinet features a mixture of both.
